Greetings, brothers and sisters. This is Dr. James Perry continuing with our series where we seek to
explore the deeper meanings of our relationship with Jesus Christ. Over the years, the heavenly
Father has revealed many revelations of spiritual truth to me, and I want to share them with you. This
morning we seek to understand the meaning of the third way.
And now, sit back and listen to today's message.
The Third Way
Jesus said, "We have piped unto you, and ye have not danced; we have mourned unto you, and
ye have not lamented." Matthew, Chapter 11, Verse 17.
Brothers and sisters, when we point our fingers in the mirror, we see our finger pointing back at us.
The only time it does not point back at us is when we are wise enough not to point it at the mirror.
Only the heavenly Father can spiritually judge us. Those who attempt to judge their brothers and
sisters will find that they are like people who point their fingers at mirrors and behold the mirror of
justice pointing the same fingers back at them. "Judge not that ye be not judged. For with what
judgement ye judge, ye shall be judged: and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you
again." The same judgement that you use will be used to judge you.
Having giving us free will concerning the choosing of Himself, from the Father's point of view, we
choose one of two ways: we can choose the way of love, or the way of justice, which destroys that
which mercy can not save. And yet brothers and sisters, there are some who are like those in the
introductory scripture: they refuse to dance or lament. They seek to acquire the power of the
heavenly Father without acquiring either His wisdom or mercy. They seek to use the power of God
to satisfy their selfish and their unwise goals. They seek to destroy that which mercy can save.
They seek to find the Father of love without loving. They seek to discover the unselfish Father of
love through selfishness, hatred, bigotry, revenge, stoniness of heart, and impulsiveness. They seek
to find the Father by having the Father become like they are, rather than become like He is. They
pray, sing, and worship the loving Father with their lips, but their hearts are far from Him. They
acknowledge that the heavenly Father has created them, but deny Him the right of rule in their hearts.
They do this by deceiving themselves into thinking that the righteous Father loves them more than
He loves their sisters and brothers.
Brothers and sisters, these so-called "third wayers" fail to realize the divine law of reflection. They
fail to realize that the love they would show to others is the same love that the unselfish Father would
show them. It is truly wonderful and wise that the Father has decreed this divine reflection. They fail
to realize that the same patience they would show to others is the same patience that the long
suffering Father would show to them. The mercy they would show to others is the same mercy that
the merciful compassionate Father would show to them. They fail to realize that the same
forgiveness if given would be the same forgiveness the forgiving Father would show them if and
when they should seek forgiveness.
And herein is the eternal danger of the third wayers: When their hearts grow cold and hard because
of the persistent rejection of divine goodness, the capacity to know the Father and become like Him
in the process is gradually lost. Such a one becomes spiritually blinded by pride so that he loses the
ability to humble himself, to repent, and to seek forgiveness.
And then there are the third wayers who will not love and who try to prevent others from loving.
What is to be done with those who refuse to eat or drink from the divine feast of spiritual goodness?
What is to be done with those who refuse to go forward in the light of divine love, and who seek to
prevent those who are hungry for truth from going forward? Above all, they are to be pitied, for they
are truly without hope in time and eternity.
These third wayers diligently search and quote scriptures, and they pride themselves on keeping all
of the commandments except one: Love the Lord God with all your heart, soul, and mind, and love
your brothers and sisters the way that God loves you. This commandment is a stumbling block to the
proud and haughty. Truth for them is a thick darkness rather than a light that leads them out of
darkness. For them, darkness is light.
Brothers and sisters, divine goodness is beyond their comprehension, and evil is the only reality they
know. They search for goodness everywhere, but find it not. To their brothers and sisters they claim
that God is good while in their hearts they say He is too good to share with anyone but themselves.
They fail to discern that divine goodness must flow unconsciously through them in order to be real.
Beauty is what they think they are. After all, is not beauty in the eye of the beholders? And since they
are the beholders, they do not behold beauty in anyone except themselves.
It is exceedingly difficult for them to see that the third way is no way at all. They are spiritually
blind. It is hard for them to discern that there are only two ways to follow: One way leads to
everlasting life in the way of love, patience, mercy, and forgiveness. The other was is the way of
everlasting death--the way of rejected love, discarded patience, spurned mercy, and forsaken
forgiveness. Having rejected mercy, there can only be divine justice with its eternal damnation. Thus
it is seen, that the third way is no way at all
This concludes today's message on understanding the meaning of the third way. We hope you find
something in this message to ponder and pray about as you go about your day. Until next time, this
