Greetings and good morning brothers and sisters. This is Dr. James Perry continuing with our series
where we seek to explore the deeper meanings of our relationship with Jesus Christ. Over the years,
the heavenly Father has revealed many revelations of spiritual truth to me, and I want to share them
with you. This morning we seek to understand the meaning of the coming storm of mortality.
And now, sit back and listen to today's message.
The Coming Storm of Mortality
"And he arose, and rebuked the wind, and said unto the sea, peace, be still. And the wind
ceased, and there was a great calm." Mark, Chapter 4, Verses 39.
Brothers and sisters, in today’’s broadcast, we examine the coming storm. Far out in the Atlantic
Ocean, there begins an unusual interplay between the temperature, wind, and air pressure that causes
interruption and alteration of the rolling gentle ocean swells. As this interplay continues, moisture
fills the air and furthers a process that causes the moisture to begin to take on a circular nature. This
process continues gaining momentum. After swirling and swirling and growing and growing. This
phenomenon takes on monstrous proportion. It becomes a Category 5 hurricane. And as it continues
to swirl, it breaks free of its mooring, and like a cannon unleashed from a cannon hurtles north. As
it makes it way over the warm water, it gathers further energy. And all this increases both its size and
its speed. It has begun its destructive journey.
Meanwhile, those whose duty it is to take note of such phenomenon, duly begin to track the storm.
And even though it is a Category 5 hurricane, it is bigger, stronger, and more deadly than anything
that they have seen before. A plane is sent to further investigate the size and power of the storm. The
plane confirms the magnitude and speed, and it is agreed this is a monstrous storm heading north.
Though still way out in the ocean, it is definitely headed for the large population centers that
occupied the coast lines to the north. It was definitely a date with destiny.
The stillness of the air and the balmy weather on the coast line, gave many a false sense of security,
for it is human nature that when threatened with disaster to grab hold of any straws that will
contradict the approaching disaster. Many just could not or would not grasp the magnitude of the
disaster that was heading their way. And of course there were those sentimental beings, lacking in
wisdom, who had invested too much of their hard earned loyalty in their homes to ever think about
leaving. These were the ones who were in principle already dead from the storm, but did not realize
it.
But the balmy weather did not last for long. The warm and fragrant summer breeze began to pick up
speed; the sky slowly and then rapidly became overcast. There was a temperature drop, and soon
winds up to 200 miles per hour were rushing towards the northern coast. The authorities after
checking and rechecking the course of the storm begin to issue weather alerts, urging people to
abandon the area while there was still time. And most of the people heeded this advice, heading for
farther inland areas, areas where the storm was not expected to hit. There was a huge caravan of
traffic as millions of people hit the road, running from the wet death, the storm of the century. As
the storm continued to approach, mandatory evacuation orders were issued, and an attempt was made
to evacuate those recalcitrant individuals who just could not believe that fire could burn or would
burn them. Soon the sky grew dark, and the rain began to fall, followed by a massive assault on the
coastline by the death storm. It hit the coast line with a force of several nuclear weapons. This force
was so powerful that it sheared off part of the coast line, and of course all of those who refused to
leave were lost.
An infant is conceived. Initially there is not the slightest evidence that he is there, but soon he begins
to make himself known by the changes that he causes to be induced in the mother. These changes
continue to increase in magnitude, and soon it is very obvious to the mother and those who observe
her that she is pregnant with child. As time goes on, the child continues to develop within the womb,
and soon moves towards his date with destiny. He is soon to be born into the world, but already the
seed of his material destruction is woven into his very life. This birth is a traumatic event, as the
forces of the womb begin to push unremittingly until the child is pushed out of the womb. After the
child is born, he begins his care under the mother. At this time, the child is unaware that the
hurricane of mortality is stalking him even as he begins the growth spurts that will eventually usher
him into adulthood.
But the Father has taken note of his birth, and even now begins preparation for his escape from the
mortal life. "In my Father’’s house are many mansions." This hurricane of mortality is destined to
destroy all who do not make use of the escape route that the Father has ordained through His Son,
Jesus. "All that the Father giveth me shall come to me; and him that cometh to me I will in no wise
cast out." The Father has created a special space deep within his mind, and they have laid the
foundation of this special space with the concrete of morality and have reinforced it with the
indestructible lining of worship and wisdom. He has stockpiled this safe area with the hunger for
truth and the thirst for righteousness. In addition the Father has supplied this safe place with his
spirit. This spirit will transform the mortal into a form that will allow him to escape the hurricane
of mortality.
Now for those who will cooperate with the Father’’s spirit, He will also join with them and become
one with them. This union will make them immune from any further hurricanes of mortality. But this
takes a lot of time and work. So the soul who begins works as soon as he hears the warnings of the
storm of mortality can succeed in joining with the spirit. But even so the Father is still merciful to
those who do not begin preparation right away. For those who ignore the warnings of the storm until
it is literally on their doorstep, the Father--through His Son, Jesus--has provided a failsafe escape
method. If the mortal truly wants to be saved even if it is at the last moment before he loses the
ability to make that choice, the Father has provided a catchment convoy that will capture his soul
once his mortal mechanism fails. The soul will be conveyed to safety, where it will be given
additional opportunity to join with the Father. ““And he shall send his angels with a great sound of
a trumpet, and they shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from one end of the heavens
to the other."
As the storm of mortality begins its approach, the Father’’s spirit beckons the soul to prepare for the
day of the storm of mortality. And initially it is hard for the soul to see that a storm of mortality is
coming, for the skies of life are clear and bright and the breezes so pleasant. It is almost impossible
to conceive that the skies are going to go black; and the breezes are going to become very hostile,
and ultimately destructive. But as the storm of mortality begins to get closer and closer, the Father’’s
spirit sends out his warning in ever-increasing urgency, urging the soul to prepare for the cataclysmic
event. The unremitting thirst for truth and hunger for righteousness increase in intensity. These
stimuli for survival cause the soul to seek prayer and worship in the effort to satisfy them, and he is
successful in his efforts as long as he keeps satisfying them. Soon the skies turn grey, and the breezes
pick up, and he becomes aware that indeed the storm of mortality is indeed well under way. Because
he has complied with the instructions, he has no fear.
And for those who did not heed the stimulus for thirst of truth and hunger for righteousness until the
last minute, the Father in mercy initiates the failsafe plan, and those soul are mercifully salvaged
from the storm. But as always as in the example of the material storm of the hurricane, there is
always those unfortunate souls who love their homes so much that they would rather perish than
abandon them. Such is the case of those who loved the material life so much that they refused to
respond to the stimuli of the hunger for truth and the thirst for righteousness. They do so consistently
refuse the final offer of salvation for their souls.
Such tragedies are unavoidable because of the nature of freewill. It is the choice to live or die, and
each of us must make that choice. There is indeed a storm coming. Will you prepare for the storm
consistently, indicating that you really believe it is coming and desire to survive it, or will you be like
one who refuses to heed the warning of the storm and perish? The choice not to have a storm of
mortality is not ours to make. All we can do is decide how we will respond to it. The storm of
mortality is coming. Even now it is here among us. Make haste! Proceed to safety.
This concludes today's message on the coming storm of mortality. We hope you find something in
this message to ponder and pray about as you go about your day.
Until next time, this is Dr. James Perry.
