Greetings, brothers and sisters. This is Dr. James Perry continuing with our series where we seek to explore the deeper meanings of our relationship with Jesus Christ. Over the years, the heavenly Father has revealed many revelations of spiritual truth to me, and I want to share them with you. In today’’s broadcast, we consider the prayer of spiritual preparation.
And now, sit back and listen to today's message.
Prayer of Spiritual Preparation
"Watch and pray the ye enter not into temptation: the spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak." Matthew, Chapter 26, Verse 41
in our lives, we are confronted with a situation where the spirit is willing and the flesh is weak. At such times we seem to faint when confronted with the spectacle of overwhelming trouble. And these storms of tribulation burst suddenly from the clouds of misery. Therefore should we be prepared at all times, for we never know what the next moment will bring. We don’’t want to fail but want to pass every spiritual and moral test. Let us consider this sample prayer of spiritual preparation.
Heavenly Father, we gather here in spirit and truth to petition you on behalf of your spiritual daughter and our spiritual sister. Tomorrow she faces another one of those interminable spiritual tests. We know Father that you are always with her, loving her, guiding and directing her, protecting her. We know very well that no real harm can befall her, Father. We know that you are the source of that courage and encouragement that she displays as she proceeds through these tests. We know that she knows all of these things Father, but at this time it is helpful to be reminded of these truths. We pray, Father, that you impart spiritual tranquility and divine stability as well as divine forbearance as your divine will continues to unfold in her life.
Father, we know that she is dedicated and consecrated to doing your divine will, for she could not perform as she has during this crisis if this were not so. But still, Father, we recognize that her significant spiritual achievements notwithstanding, she still remains human and has to contend with human concerns that we all share. But we ask, Father, that her supreme desire be so empowered by your Spirit of Truth that it will reach those superconscious levels, where the divine spirit resides and meet in a union. We pray, Father, that during this divine union of her soul and your Spirit of Truth that her revelation of you will be so poignant that all who are involved in her experience will exclaim after it is completed that surely this is a daughter of the heavenly Father.
We pray, Father, that her tranquility of spirit and mind will be so great that it causes reactions of astonishment in those who observe her during this crisis. We pray, Father, that you strengthen her in her soul. We pray, Father, that whatever spiritual quality that is needful for this experience that you supply her with it. Again, Father, we know that we don’’t have to ask you to do this for her--that you will supply all of her needs--but we desire to make her conscious of this great truth.
And just as your divine spirit can direct the mind, so can the mind direct the emotional response to this crisis she is about to undergo when the will is fully dedicated to doing your divine will. We pray, Father, that she be as "cool as a cucumber." We pray, Father, that through it all, she make a greater revelation of your divine love through your Son, Jesus, in and through this crisis. And when she has completed it, Father, we pray that you reward her by making this divine spiritual display part of her soul eternally. We pray, Father, that she emerge from this experience even more dedicated and consecrated to doing your divine will than before she entered it.
We pray, Father, that she remain strong in your divine hope, trust, and faith. We pray that she leans completely on you doing this experience. And we pray, Father, that you direct us and prompt us to do those things that will help us to help her to remain strong and inspire her to climb the ladder of one more step of Godlikeness as demonstrated by your Son, Jesus. And most of all, Father, stamp upon her soul with indelible spiritual love that she is your daughter, in whom you are well pleased. Return her back to our midst, Father, if it be your will to continue to reveal your divine love and mercy to us, her spiritual brothers and sisters. It is in your Son’’s name that we pray. Amen.
Your spiritual brothers and sisters, who love you, dearly.
This concludes today's message on the prayer of spiritual preparation. We hope you find something in this message to ponder and pray about as you go about your day.
