Persistent Love

Greetings and good morning brothers and sisters. This is Dr. James Perry continuing with our series
where we seek to explore the deeper meanings of our relationship with Jesus Christ. Over the years,
the heavenly Father has revealed many revelations of spiritual truth to me, and I want to share them
with you. This morning we will ponder our lives as we seek to understand the meaning of the inspired
message from Jesus on the persistence of love.

And now, sit back and listen to today's message.

Persistent Love

Jesus said: "A new commandment I give unto you: That you love one another as I have loved
you, that you also love one another." John, Chapter 13, Verses 34.

And we said, "we are sick and tired of this." Jesus replied,"are you tired of receiving love, patience,
mercy, and forgiveness, or are you tired of giving love, patience, mercy, and forgiveness? Could it
be that you have decided to walk in the light no more?"

And we responded by saying,"No matter how hard we try to be loving, Jesus, the effect seems so very
small. In fact, we can see no difference at all. And its not just unbelievers either. Even some believers
seem oblivious to our efforts to love. They say and do all kinds of cruel things. And when we tell
them about it, they get angry, and make us feel even worse. Sometimes we wonder if you are still with
us."

And then Jesus responded, "My children, have you forgotten the long years I waited for you to come
into this marvelous light? Have you forgotten how cruel and unkind you were to the messengers of
hope that I sent to you, one after the other? And even when I met you on your own terms, still you
ignored me. But remember, I still loved you and refused to give up on you. Don't forget that even
when you recognized my love for you, you were very lukewarm in your efforts to love others the way
I love you. But still I waited patiently for you to dedicate your whole life to the doing of our Father's
will.

"And though you say you have dedicated your life to doing our Father's will, you still have not been
able to perfectly achieve this with your shifting attitudes of love. How you grieve me when you refuse
to love those who need it the most while being satisfied by loving only those who love you. You
deceive yourself that I am pleased with your self-righteous efforts. "How can you arrange your life
and direct your missionary efforts to those who are not in need? Can you not understand that it is the
sick who need a doctor? And if you understand, why do you not obey? And how many times have you
stumbled into darkness because of your selfish pride? And did I not forgive you when you
rebelled against the rule of mercy and in forgiveness reinstate you back into the light?"

"My children, show the world that I love you and that you love me supremely by unselfishly loving
all your sisters and brothers, not just the ones that are easy to love, but the ones that you consider
impossible to love. And remember: what is impossible with man is possible with God. My children,
you should know that your hurt feelings are mostly the result of loving selfishly. It is true that at
times you will grieve in sorrow for your lost brothers and sisters because of your compassion. You
will grieve in sorrow because you know that the same light that can save them if accepted can only
destroy them if persistently rejected."

"But who made you judge? How can you determine when enough love has been shown? How can
you determine when enough patience has been shown? How can you know when enough mercy has
been shown? And how can you tell when enough forgiveness has been shown? Do you not know that
it is the goodness of the Lord that causes repentance? And would you deprive some struggling soul
of walking in this marvelous and glorious light just because you have as yet been unable to
demonstrate me to them clearly?"

"My children, keep on loving no matter how much your pride is wounded. Just keep on loving no
matter how hopeless it may seem. Just keep on loving even if it you think it will kill you to do so,
knowing fully well that I have already given you eternal life. And never forget my children that I am
also at work in the souls of your brothers and sisters. Regardless of how it appears now, I will
complete what I have begun."

This concludes today's message on understanding the meaning of the inspired message from Jesus
on persistent love. We hope you find something in this message to ponder and pray about as you go
about your day. Until next time, this is Dr. James Perry.
