Greetings and good morning brothers and sisters. This is Dr. James Perry continuing with our series
where we seek to explore the deeper meanings of our relationship with Jesus Christ. Over the years,
the heavenly Father has revealed many revelations of spiritual truth to me, and I want to share them
with you. This morning we will ponder our lives as we seek to understand the meaning of finding
the spiritual Father.
And now, sit back and listen to today's message.
Finding the Spiritual Father
"And ye shall seek me, and find me when ye shall search for me with all your heart."
Jeremiah, Chapter 29, Verse 13.
Brothers and sisters, the Father gives us instructions for how to find Him. The Father has said that
we shall find him when we search for him with all of our hearts. If we pursue him halfheartedly we
shall fail to find him. There are many things within the human heart that competes for our attention.
We must not allow anything to interfere or compete with an all-compelling drive to find the Father.
This spiritual drive is manifested on the outside with increasing acts of unselfish love for our
brothers and the sisters, while on the inside our souls are stabilized with a superb peace that passes
all understanding. All other goals and desires (secret or openly acknowledged) must be exposed and
submitted voluntarily to the divine light of the Father.
Brothers and sisters, we should not become discouraged in our efforts to find the Father. It requires
time for us to shift our spiritual loyalties. And then must we endure the test to see if in fact our desire
to believe His Son, Jesus, has become a reality. Brothers and sisters, sometimes for some of us, this
may be a disappointing and frustrating experience as we realize that not only have we not submitted
our known desires to the Father's will, but we discover new areas of life that we must also submit.
But brothers and sisters, a period of growth must take place, even after we have made the decision
to do the Father's will. This period of growth involves discovering and rediscovering the meaning
of the Father's love. Discovering the Father's love is evidenced by ever increasing joy within us and
by the fact that we continually discover new ways to love our brothers and sisters. And this is the
Spirit of Truth revealing the Father to us. We are joyfully amazed as new meanings of love arise out
of old meanings, and new values of love emerge out of the old ones.
At some point in our search for the spiritual Father, we begin to realize that there is no end to this
revelation of the spiritual Father. The search for the Father is endless. There can never be a time
when we have complete knowledge of Him. Always will we discover new knowledge of him, and
this is reflected by our increasing ability and desire to love our brothers and sisters who are more
resistant to the divine affection. As the power of the Father's love increases within us, we shower our
brothers and sisters with it, sweeping them into the glorious light of the Father's love. And as this
love keeps flowing through us in ever greater quality and quantity, our fellowship with the Father
through his Son Jesus ever intensifies. Further, as this process continues we become filled with the
Father's love to the maximum of our capacity, and finally realize that we have found the spiritual
Father through his Son, Jesus. He who has seen the Son has seen the Father. We have obeyed that
mandate which says "you shall find me when you seek me with your whole heart."
This concludes today's message on understanding the meaning of finding the spiritual Father. We
hope you find something in this message to ponder and pray about as you go about your day. Until
next time, this is Dr. James Perry.
