Divine Leadership and Influence
Greetings, brothers and sisters. This is Dr. James Perry continuing with our series where we seek to
explore the deeper meanings of our relationship with Jesus Christ. Over the years, the heavenly
Father has revealed many revelations of spiritual truth to me, and I want to share them with you. This
morning we seek to understand how the Most High uses divine leadership and influence to rule in
the kingdoms of men.

And now, sit back and listen to today's message.

Divine Leadership and Influence

"Who is gone into heaven and is on the right hand of God; angels and authorities and powers
being made subject to him..."; The Most High ruleth in the kingdoms of men and giveth it to
whomsoever he will." 1 Peter, Chapter 3, Verse 22; Daniel, Chapter 4, Verse 32.

Brothers and sisters, mind is the reality between spirit and matter. It is through the ability of our
minds to think that material reality is transformed in response to the mandates of spirit. All true ideas
and ideals come from God. We have minds that are subject to our will. We may thus create a
transitory reality through the creative prerogatives of our minds. Or we may create something of
eternal value and divine meaning by choosing the will of God, which resides in our minds.

The influence of spirit in our minds and souls is disclosed by the tendency of the self to strive for
ever greater mastery of itself and its environment. The self naturally craves to make things better,
to create a better world for its offspring than it enjoyed. We assume this tendency comes from our
human natures. In reality this is the out working of that tremendous command broadcast to all
creation by the spirit Father: To be perfect even as He is perfect. And this command is concealed
within our minds as the reality of the Father's spirit.

The Father's spirit has the power to reveal divine ideas and ideals within the conscious mind. The
Father's spirit contains all values that are translated into meanings in the mind. Such a mind,
responsive to spirit prompting or leading, is also amenable to the guidance of angels. When we desire
to do the Father's will, to follow the leading of the Father's spirit, we enable the angels to intensify,
spotlight those thoughts that are of divine origin.

Though the spirits of the Father are uniformly divine in its origin and nature, not all the spirits of the
Father have the same amount of experience. Some have more experience than others in dealing with
mortal creatures. And like all experiences, those who have more of it are able to do more than those
who have less of it. The spirits of the Father are no different in that respect. There is simply no
substitute for experience.

Mind is uniform, though it is handicapped by the spiritual receptivity of the physical nature with
which it is associated. Thus, though mind is the same in its practical application, it does not so
function, being handicapped by the material brain, the quality of which is determined by the gene
pool from which it emerges. In the individual, then, there are two factors that determine the effective
outworking (or God's will) in the moral environment: the experience of the spirit and the spiritual
receptivity of the human brain.

Combined, these two factors determine the quality of leadership. Leadership in an individual is a
qualitative state and reflects the degree of experience of the Father's spirit and the degree of spiritual
receptivity of the brain. A leader appears to have the power to influence other individuals to follow
his ideas and even ideals. He does this by representing their hopes and aspirations. In effect he
reflects their meanings and values. Thus is the stage set for God to express His will within the group,
subject to the delays of time and handicaps of space.

Let us consider how the Most High functions in governmental political processes. The Most High
appears on earth with a certain concept to be implemented. This divine Son is entrusted with the
responsibility of guiding the group--from the most primitive forms of government to the most
advanced. The angels translate this concept in their persons and administer this concept to the leaders
of a given group. As the political leaders work in the political arena, the angels intensify many ideas
that have been revealed by the spirit Father to the God-knowing mortal mind. The individual
expresses these ideas to other leaders and to the group.

Because of the influence these leaders have, the group naturally follows them, embracing their ideas
and ideals as their own. In a democratic society, this is beautifully shown in the political process. The
net result of all this is that people choose a leader that represents the personalized concept of the
Most High to the degree that it is possible to represent such a concept under the particular handicaps
of space and delays of time.

This concludes today's message on the understanding how the Most High uses divine leadership and
influence to rule in the kingdom of men. We hope you find something in this message to ponder and
pray about as you go about your day. Until next time, this is Dr. James Perry.
